This week In Biomed we discussed Digital Object Identifiers. We learned how they are a more permanent alternative to URLs when sighting a source. A DOI is assigned to a published work and not a website. This means that a work can be on multiple different websites, but still have its own specific citation.
We covered Patient Bed positions in this week's skills lab. I enjoyed learning how to work the bed and learning all of the different ways in which I could be oriented. In this lab, I was able to see how certain bed positions are good for certain cases and how each position orients the patient in the most optimal position for whatever their needs are. We had a good time laughing at each other when we were developing our presentation on these positions, but it was a good learning experience and a good step in better understanding the basics of the healthcare system.
